The Melbourne Cup is the greatest national race of Australia. Traditionally it is held on the first Tuesday in November. Each year, a whopping 100,000 flock to Flemington race course, the home of the Melbourne Cup, to watch the famous race.
Moreover, this day is an official public holiday, but even these who still need to work usually take a break to watch a live broadcast when the Cup is on. So, while the horses are running around the race track, the whole nation stops for few minutes with eyes glued to TV screens.
Apparently, the Melbourne Cup stops not only the nation, but also all race wear fashion fans.
The title of Best Dressed Lady of the Melbourne Cup is a deeply and desperately desired award of so many fashionistas!
This year the Melbourne Cup was blessed with sunshine and a relatively warm day, a rare treat in Melbourne’s notoriously variable weather.
So, the sun was shining, the bands were playing and photographers clicked away with cameras hunting for the fanciest outfits, while fashionistas put on their best poses.
